As an interior designer based in Carmel, Indiana, I’m always on the lookout for innovative ways to enhance both the interior and exterior of homes in the Midwest. Recently, I embarked on a simple yet impactful DIY project that has completely transformed the front of my house: installing rain chains.
This is the exact rain chain I used. It’s copper plated so it should patina over time which I love the look of!
The Charm of Rain Chains
Rain chains are an elegant alternative to traditional downspouts, offering both functionality and aesthetic appeal. Originating from Japan, these decorative chains guide rainwater from your roof to the ground, creating a mesmerizing water feature during rainy days.
Easy Installation, Stunning Results
One of the most surprising aspects of this project was its simplicity. Replacing our old gutters with rain chains was remarkably straightforward, making it one of the easiest DIY projects I’ve ever undertaken. The result? A stunning visual upgrade that has significantly boosted our home’s curb appeal.
Check out a few other simple rain chain options I considered as well.
Beyond Rain Chains
While rain chains have made a significant impact, they’re just the beginning of my plans to revitalize our home’s exterior. As a True Color Expert, I’m particularly excited about the next phase: painting the brick.
The Power of Color in Exterior Design
