In middle school, Kylie collected monkey memorabilia and decorated her bedroom with it. She turned her room into a jungle by painting the ceiling bright green and the walls dark brown to mimic a tree house. Strands of plastic ivy draped the walls. The matching monkey bedding took it over the top. Then, she moved onto her friends' houses. During their playdates, she cleaned and rearranged their bedrooms. She loved making spaces beautiful even from a young age.
Later, she watched her carpenter grandfather build homes and even add an addition onto their house. Her grandparents put her in charge of choosing furniture and window treatments. (She had obviously outgrown themed decor by then!) and added to her skills, setting the foundation for interior design. She was hooked!
Meet Kylie Lockett
Kylie Lockett has been in the interior design field since 2006. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Interior Architecture Design from the CIDA-accredited program at Indiana State University in 2010 and has served at her alma mater as Chairman of the Board of the Interior Architecture Design Program from 2017 to present day. She is a certified True Color Expert® and has worked with leading design industry professionals in Indianapolis as a project manager. Her extensive design journey spans a diverse range of projects, from high-end, luxury residential interiors to large commercial spaces.
Kylie's true passion lies in helping her clients create a vision for their space through a warm and collaborative approach. Beyond design, she’s a mom of two, friend, and avid home renovator known for her love of city life, coffee, and spontaneous travel adventures both near and far.
