When it comes to interior design, one of the most important aspects to consider are the furniture pieces you will use. Not only will these decisions contribute to the overall look of your space, but they will play a major role into the overall function and layout of the space. And that, my friend, leads to the impact it will have on your everyday life.
This may sound simple, but the best way to ensure that you will pick the right furnishings for your home is to start with a plan!
Know before you go
Before you go surfing the web (or a local shop’s inventory), it’s helpful to know what you’re looking for in advance. If you don’t, it may start to feel like your design vision is crashing in on you like a wave that takes out a surfer who gets knocked off his surfboard. Nobody wants that!
Now, if you’re already wondering how you can do that, I’ve totally got you covered. The quickest and easiest way to put a plan together is to create a digital design board or mood board. A design board is a visual representation to give you an idea of what your room will look like before you begin to purchase new items. Your board should include things like paint colors, furniture, accessories, etc.
Let’s get started
To help you get started, I recommend using CANVA. Once you are logged in, go to the search bar and type in “Design Board” or “Moodboard”. This will bring up a number of pre-design templates for you to drop in images of your furniture selections so that you can see what everything will look look like once it all comes together.
and that you can use to put your design vision together.and get started right away. (Or wait until the kids are in bed so you can sip your beverage of choice and celebrate in the morning – whichever you choose.)
After you’ve logged into your CANVA.COM account, this is what your home page will look like. You will want to click in the search bar and type “design board” to search for templates and then pick your favorite one.
